Dancer. Teacher. Choreographer

Home: Welcome

ABOUT  MAUDE

Maude Warshaw was born and raised in New Hampshire with her two sisters and brother. She was immersed in dance from the moment she could walk, studying alongside her siblings at her local dance studio. There, she was introduced to traditional techniques such as ballet, modern, jazz, tap, and hip hop. Growing up with extreme dyslexia isolated her from the community. Growing up in a world that did not communicate in a language she identified with  left her feeling out of place and limited. Dance provided a platform to develop her sense of self and identity. This assisted in aiding her navigation of the world, carving out her own place within it. Participation in dance allowed an equal playing field where everyone communicated through the universal language of movement. After graduating from high school Maude moved to Boston in order to attend The Boston Conservatory at Berklee. Where she could refined her art and strengthen her individual artistic voice. At the Conservatory Maude had the opportunity to study classical modern techniques such as Graham, Horton, Release, and Lamone. Maude will be graduating in the Spring of 2021, then she will be moving to New York to pursue a career in dance.

 PERFORMER

As an artist, I relish in the opportunity of performing another's choreography. The act of performance allows me to see through their individual lens, while staying true to my own sense of self.
As a choreographer my work often explores knowledge of self as the creator, performer, and audience member. I am fascinated with blurring the line between where one body ends and the energy in a performance space begins.

ARTISTSTATMENT

I believe dance to be a part of the human experience of expression. Dancers have the unique ability to fill the space with intention and substance. Movement may cut through the space and manipulate it to communicate in a direct and clear manner. I also believe that art is put on this planet to feed the soul. In the same way that farmers process food from the Earth that feeds our bodies. We, as dancers, seek out the beauty in the world and excavate it so that it can be seen and absorbed.
